Definition of Key Terminology and "Missions"

  1. Global Outreach/Mission reflects an Acts 1:8 perspective and our commitment to reaching out to our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, as well as the remotest parts pf the earth.

  2. World Evangelism is an all inclusive term that refers to the overall mission given to the Church to share the Gospel both locally and globally.

  3. Local Evangelism is the sharing of the Good News with one's own (or very similar) people group (culture), which already has a sound indigenous church.

  4. Regular Missions involves cross-cultural ministry (ideally in association with Christians of the target culture) to a people group that already has a sound, indigenous church.

  5. Frontier Missions involves cross-cultural outreach to a people group that does not have a sound, indigenous church capable of evangeliazing its own people.

"Missions" therefore at GBF shall be considered any cross-cultural endeavor, whether local or global. Its purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission through the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, church planting, discipleship, and leadership development. All other ministry from GBF will be considered "local evangelism".
